Guide for Using the “Ban Unwanted Traffic Sources” Plugin by Trispark Academy

How It Works:

  • When someone visits your website from any of the specified URLs, they will be blocked and shown a message saying, “Sorry, you are not allowed to visit this website at this time.”
  • The plugin checks the referrer header of incoming requests and matches it against the URLs you’ve entered in the settings.

1. Install the Plugin:

  • Download the plugin ZIP file.
  • Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  • Navigate to “Plugins” > “Add New.”
  • Click the “Upload Plugin” button.
  • Choose the downloaded ZIP file and click “Install Now.”
  • Once installed, click “Activate Plugin.”

2. Configure the Plugin:

  • In the WordPress admin dashboard, go to “Settings” > “Ban Unwanted Traffic Sources.”
  • You will see fields to enter up to three URLs that you want to ban.
  • Enter the URLs of the websites you want to block traffic from.
  • Click “Save Changes.”

3. Testing the Plugin:

  • To test, visit your site from one of the banned URLs using a referrer checking tool or by clicking a link from the banned site.
  • You should see the block message if the plugin is configured correctly.
